About the Course:
Have you always wanted to learn to knit but aren’t sure where to begin? Perhaps you are ready to move on from the basic knit and purl stitches? If so, this 2 week beginners learn to knit course is for you!
For beginners – you need no experience whatsoever. This course will cover all the basics including casting on and off, knit and purl stitches, plus increasing and decreasing. We will also venture into changing colours to create blocks of colour or skinny stripes!
For improvers – perhaps you are ready to move on to the next stage, such as learning moss stitch, stocking stitch or rib stitch. Or perhaps you need some guidance with a pattern you have chosen or need Melanie to help you choose a pattern at the right level for you. Come and join the session with or without a project on the go.
About your teacher:
Melanie is a professional fibre artist who produces and sells unique hand-spun yarns, as well as crocheted, knitted and hand-dyed garments, through her business ‘Spiral Spin’ at Draper’s Yard. She has perfected her craft following years of experience in weaving, knitting, crocheting and spinning, backed up by formal studies in fine art, at which time wood block printing was her passion. These days you’re most likely to find Melanie behind her faithful spinning wheel ‘Spiral’ unless you’re lucky enough to be joining her in one of her fantastic workshops!
Maximum class size of 8.
