A Fat Quarter, or FQ as it is often abbreviated is a term used in patchwork and sewing. It is a way of cutting a metre of traditional quilting cotton fabric in to 4. A Fat Quarter measures approximately 56cm wide x 50cm long depending on the width of the fabric. Fat quarters are pre-cut squares that quilters love. They love them as they are ever-so handy for small projects or scrap quilts. They are a fab way to build your 'stash' . . . but the trouble is it can become quite addictive!
