We all have a well loved, classic, plain t-shirt that fits just right, but perhaps just too threadbare to be worn. Bring it along to this class and Dhurata will show you how to copy a pattern from it, then use it to sew a replica in jersey fabric of your choice. You will learn stretch stitches for knit fabrics, including a few different hemming techniques and tips to successfully sew a neckband on - all while using a regular sewing machine. Can be made in adult or children's sizes
About your Teacher: Dhurata Davies is a dressmaking pattern designer, sewing tutor and maker of all things fabric and fibre. She has been sewing and designing women's and children's clothing since she was very young and has always loved giving function and purpose to a piece of fabric (or a ball of yarn)! She designs and makes unique but simple and practical everyday items that are meant to be enjoyed for much longer than the latest fashion. True to her nature, her classes are very informal and fun with plenty of sewing tips and tricks from a lifetime of experience.
Class Size: Maximum class size of 6
Skills: Suitable for beginners and those with more sewing experience.
Materials: You will need to buy approximately 0.50m - 1.50 m of fabric depending on the size you make and whether you choose short or long sleeves. You're welcome to bring any adult or child size t-shirt to replicate. We have a selection of plain and patterned jersey available to purchase in store but please feel free to bring some from your stash.
Course Duration: 4 Hours of tuition
Venue: Workshops are held in our colourful and cosy studio, above the shop. There is lots of space to spread out and a separate chill out area to have a break. The shop is located in central Chichester, about a 10 minute walk from the train and bus station. The closest car park is The Cattle Market.
