Hello!

This is going to be a daft question probably as I'm sure it's blindingly obvious what to do… but HELP! I'm stuck!

I'm a novice sewer (although a vintage Clothkits wearer having been brought up in Clothkits when I was a little girl).

My husband bought me a Big Birdie “I want one too!” skirt for Christmas which I've finally embarked upon.

I've hit a snag at stage 4 - can anyone offer any advice?

The instructions say to attach facing to linings, right side together, pin the bottom edge of the facing to the top of the lining, but this seems to be at odds with the picture that shows the tops of the both the lining and the facings together. What am I doing wrong?

Eurgh!

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Ellie X

Hi Ellie

I have just picked up your message on the forum and would love to help you! Yes on this point (4) you are attaching two different curves which may seem a bit odd but does work!  What you will end up with once you have attached the facing to the lining is a whole section that is the same shape as the outside piece of the skirt – so in effect the facing is just a continuation of the lining (might be easier if you think of it in terms of one piece).  Does that help at all?? If you would like to call I can talk you through it no problem.  I might see if I can redraw this image to make it clearer as that could be useful too.
