Has anyone worked out how to make the clothes for Cloth Kitty that come with the lion dungarees?
There is a zip and some velcro which don't appear in the dungaree instructions, so I assume they're for the dolls' clothes, but I don't know which thing is meant to go with which garment! Also, there is what looks like a pair of red shorts, but if they work the way they I think they do, the lion motif must be upside-down (or is that so it will be the right way up when the child carries the doll around by its feet?!)
By the way, top marks to Kay for including Cloth Kitty clothes in the dungaree design! This was one of the things I loved best about Clothkits when I was little. And as I never threw them away, I still have a collection of clothes, little bags etc, to remind me of all my favourite Clothkits clothes from childhood. Please do keep on doing this!

Hi Katherine
You may have got the first proof of instructions for the dungarees which have hence been tweeked and, dare I say it, improved! For anyone who would like a copy of these please email us at info@clothkits.co.uk and we will mail new ones out to you straight away. The zip is for a development of the pattern where there is going to be an option to make them into trousers rather than just dungarees - but we are getting a little ahead of ourselves here if you have one in your notions pack! (This is also why there is a fly section which is currently unused). Pocket margins were also a bit cryptic on the first proof and it is best to use a 0.5cm margin on all sides.
The dolls clothing kit comes on a separate sheet - and yes you are right it is a pair of shorts, with an elasticated waist (there should be enough elastic left over from the dungarees to do this bit). But the lion is definitely the right way round. The short sections need to be cut in half exaclty in the centre (between the two lines of smaller circles), and then the two very short lines on either side are the centre seams to the top of the legs (if you can imagine that you are making them for yourself then these are the bits where your thighs meet….!). And your bit of velcro attaches down the back of the top to make it easy for a child to take it on and off. Hope that makes sense, but it is a whole lot easier with a diagram! Downloadable instructions will be available on the web in a day or two.

Thanks Kay! That is starting to make a lot more sense….
I finally understand about the shorts now - having got my husband to read your explanation to me repeatedly, very very slowly….. It’s easy once you know how, of course!

I'm glad to see this - I've just ordered both colours of the dungarees with a small and unexpected windfall and I'm really looking forward to tackling them.
I've stitched two dolls, two poppy dresses and am part way through the hats on the kimono kit. I went for hand sewing as it enjoy the meditative aspects of it.
It's all gone well - but it IS nice to see that if I get stuck I can ask here!

Ah ha! suddenly Kay's shorts explanation makes sense now I've turned the cloth every which way. I had this problem when I made grown up trousers too - the shape doesn't seem right somehow but it works!
I've adapted the pattern by making a binding from the fabric selvedge to go round the neck as I had problems turning the wee hem for the poppy dresses and this suits me better.

It has just come to my attention that an earlier (and more confusing!) version of the dungaree instructions has been inadvertently sent out to a few clients around Christmas. Trouble is I have no way of knowing who has received this erroneous batch - if you are confused in any way please let me know by emailing info@clothkits.co.uk and I will send out another. Pockets need to be turned, pressed and tacked at 0.5cm on all sides and then stitched onto the dungarees in two lines - once very close to the edge, and another 1cm in (have a look at pockets on jeans to see what you are trying to achieve. So sorry! Now to delete that file permanently AGAIN!
