Representing Hesper, the personification of the Evening Star, this design depicts a twinkling night sky in vivid hues. Inspired by Matisse’s paper cut-outs, the layout was created by making star shapes in coloured card and layering them up, before carefully scanning the result into the computer. An inversed shadow has been added, to give depth to the design.

For this collection, the Liberty Fabrics designers drew upon the potent iconography and enduring cultural significance of millennia-old narratives of gods and goddesses, with four stories of ‘Classical’, ‘Universe’, ‘Earth’, and ‘Oceans’. A sweeping tour across sea, land, and heavens, shot through with captivating mythic imagery and symbolism to ignite the imagination.
