With its statement sleeves, generous skirt and adjustable waist ties, Isobel is a dress that's every bit as enjoyable to sew as it is to wear.
Featuring oversized sleeves, an abundance of pleats and gathers, practical pockets and adjustable side ties, Isobel has a distinctive silhouette that can be styled to suit you. The ties allow you to bring in the waist for a more defined shape or leave it loose for a relaxed, flowing look.
This is a particularly satisfying project for dressmakers who enjoy working with generous amounts of fabric and exploring different construction techniques. The pattern introduces Faith's own Making Method, developed through years of producing slow fashion garments, with an emphasis on efficient sewing processes and beautiful results.
Suggested Fabrics:
Lightweight to medium-weight non-stretch woven fabrics work best for the Isobel Dress. Cotton lawn, poplin, linen, linen blends and other soft woven dressmaking fabrics are lovely choices. Crisp cottons will emphasise the dramatic shape, while softer fabrics will create a more fluid silhouette.
Fabric Requirements:
The following are the designer's minimum fabric requirements, based on cutting the fabric flat rather than on the fold. Quantities are in metres and assume fabric without a directional nap. Allow extra for shrinkage, pattern matching or directional prints.

Choosing Your Size: The designer recommends adding 20cm to your body bust measurement and choosing the size with the closest finished bust measurement. For example, if your bust measures 100cm, choose size M, which has a finished bust measurement of 120cm.
