You’re all set to start a wonderfully cosy winter make with your Julia Sweater Dressmaking Kit. Inside you’ll find everything prepared for you, including a limited-edition Italian wool-blend fleece that’s beautifully warm, super soft, and truly unique.
Julia’s clever construction results in a relaxed yet polished silhouette. The front is cut both vertically and horizontally - perfect for showing off the bold pattern of the fleece. Pockets slot neatly into the horizontal seam, while the slightly dropped shoulders, long sleeves and stand-up collar keep things comfortable and stylish. A contrasting snap placket adds crisp detail, and elasticated cuffs and hem give the finished piece a snug, practical fit.
Because Atelier Jupe patterns are printed double-sided with overlapping pieces, tracing is essential (and keeps your pattern pristine). We’ve included spot-and-cross paper so you can get started right away.
Before you Start
Take a moment to read through the pattern instructions from beginning to end so the flow of construction is familiar before you begin cutting.
Trace all pattern pieces onto the spot-and-cross paper provided, this keeps your original pattern intact and allows you to reuse it in future.
Pre-treat your fleece in the way you intend to wash the finished garment, then give it a gentle press so it lies flat.
A slightly longer stitch length can work well with this fabric, so it’s worth testing your machine settings on a small off-cut.
Finally, when laying out your pieces, pay attention to the nap or direction of the pattern to ensure a consistent finish.
Fabric & Care
Main fabric: The limited-edition Italian wool-blend fleece is the star of this kit. Soft, lofty and wonderfully warm, it has enough structure to hold the garment’s shape while still feeling comfortable and cosy to wear.
Composition: 32% wool / 68% polyester.
Your contrasting placket fabric varies depending on the colourway: the Pink & Orange kit includes a purple bamboo–polyester blend (49% bamboo, 49% polyester, 2% spandex), while the Blue & Brown kit features a blue 100% cotton poplin.
Care: For best results we recommend a cool, gentle wool cycle or hand wash, using a mild detergent suitable for wool. Dry the garment flat and reshape it while damp, and always press with a low to medium heat using a pressing cloth to avoid flattening the fleece. Gentle care will help maintain the fabric’s bounce and softness for seasons to come.
Sizing
Julia is designed with a relaxed, easy-to-wear fit, featuring slightly dropped shoulders, a soft stand-up collar and elasticated cuffs and hem that give gentle shape without restricting movement.
The kit is available in two size ranges:
UK 6–14 and UK 16–24.
Each kit includes the appropriate amount of fabric and elastic for its size band.
Choose your size based primarily on your bust measurement, as this will give the best overall fit. You can adjust the length or side-seam shaping if you prefer a closer cut or a more oversized silhouette. When adding the hem and cuff elastic, try the garment on before finishing the channels, this allows you to fine-tune the fit and comfort to your preference.

Clothkits Notes
If you’re new to working with fleece, remember to press lightly and use steam sparingly to maintain loft.
Take your time when positioning the placket and snaps, the cleaner this detail is, the more polished the finished garment looks.
Julia is an excellent pattern to make more than once, and because you’ve traced your pieces, your original pattern is ready for another colourway whenever inspiration strikes!
Happy sewing from the Clothkittens 💛
