This complete dressmaking kit contains everything you need to sew your own Hovea Quilted Jacket, using the much-loved Megan Nielsen pattern. Designed with a relaxed fit, soft drop shoulders and effortless layering in mind, it’s a satisfying project that results in a beautifully wearable jacket you’ll reach for time and time again.
With its easy silhouette and thoughtful details, the Hovea is both practical and full of creative potential. This kit includes enough fabric to make either View A (mid-length) or View B (cropped), both finished with a clean collar band and optional waist ties. The pattern itself includes even more variations, making it a versatile staple you can revisit for future makes.
Before you Start
Before cutting, take a moment to read through the Megan Nielsen Hovea instructions from beginning to end so you’re familiar with the construction process. As this is an unlined jacket, you’ll be finishing seams as you go using Hong Kong binding, so it’s helpful to understand the order of construction before you begin.
If you choose to prewash your fabric, we recommend overlocking or zigzagging the raw edges first to prevent fraying. Wash on a cool setting and air dry where possible. We do not recommend ironing the fabric.
Fabric & Care
Main fabric:
This kit features a beautifully quilted, double-sided cotton voile with a softly padded feel and a gently structured finish. The stepped quilting adds texture and depth while keeping the fabric flexible and easy to sew, making it ideal for garments like jackets, gilets and cosy layers.
Composition: 75% Cotton / 25% Polyester
Care: Machine wash on a gentle, cool cycle and air dry where possible.
Sizing
The Megan Nielsen Hovea pattern included in this kit covers the full size range. Our kit is split into two size options, and you will have selected one when ordering your kit. The available size ranges are AUS 0-12 and AUS 14–20, each with the correct quantities of fabric and notions included. Please refer to the size chart in the pattern instructions to select your size before cutting.
What’s in your Kit?
Your kit includes quilted cotton voile fabric, bias binding for Hong Kong seams, thread and the Megan Nielsen Hovea pattern with full step-by-step instructions.
You’ll just need your usual sewing tools: sewing machine, universal needle, pins or clips, scissors or rotary cutter, ruler, marking tools, and an iron and ironing board.
