The Esther Blouse by Wardrobe by Me is a beautifully simple, feminine top with a softly shaped neckline, gentle volume and a choice of lovely finishing details. With two neckline treatments, two body lengths and two sleeve lengths, it's a wonderfully versatile pattern that can be made into anything from a relaxed everyday blouse to something a little more elegant.
Choose Version A for neat pleats at the neckline, creating a subtle, tailored effect, or Version B for soft gathers that add a little more fullness and movement. Both versions feature a gently scooped neckline, a small button and slit opening at the centre back, and sleeves finished with narrow cuffs. The sleeves can be made in two lengths, with either pleats or gathers at the cuffs.
There are also two body lengths to choose from, with a straight hem for a neat, classic finish or a longer, gently curved hem that's particularly lovely worn loose over trousers. Esther is an easy style to dress up or down, depending on your choice of fabric.
Lightweight woven fabrics work beautifully for this design. Try cotton voile or lawn for a fresh, airy blouse, soft viscose for gentle drape, or silk for something a little more special. The neckline pleats or gathers and cuff construction make this a satisfying project for anyone looking to develop their sewing skills, with a helpful Esther Blouse sew-along video to guide you through the process.

Suggested Fabrics: Lightweight woven fabrics without stretch, such as cotton voile, cotton lawn, viscose and silk.
Fabric Requirements – 140cm Wide:
- Sizes 30–38, Version A: 1.3m
- Sizes 40–54, Version A: 1.75m
- Sizes 30–38, Version B: 1.2m
- Sizes 40–54, Version B: 1.6m
You will also need:
- 50cm fusible interfacing (90cm wide)
- Buttons for the back neckline and cuffs
- Matching sewing thread
