The Fougère Overshirt & Jacket by Deer & Doe is a contemporary, relaxed design that sits somewhere between a classic shirt and a lightweight jacket. With its generous fit, distinctive three-piece sleeves and interesting construction details, it's a versatile layering piece that works beautifully across the seasons.
Choose between two quite different silhouettes. Version A is a longer overshirt with a gently curved hem, perfect for wearing open over a T-shirt or buttoned up as a relaxed shirt. Version B has a shorter, cropped shape with an elasticated hem, giving it a more structured, blouson-style finish. Both versions feature a traditional collar, button-through front, generous sleeves with buttoned cuffs and practical chest pockets.
The three-piece sleeve construction creates a lovely, voluminous shape, while the back yoke and pleat add movement and ease. There are plenty of opportunities to play with contrasting fabrics, decorative topstitching and interesting buttons, making Fougère a satisfying project for anyone who enjoys thoughtful garment details.
Choose a lightweight cotton or linen for a breezy summer overshirt, or try chambray, cotton twill, denim or a soft wool flannel for a more substantial jacket. The relaxed fit makes Fougère particularly good for layering, and the two versions offer plenty of scope for creating very different looks from the same pattern.

Suggested Fabrics: Lightweight to medium-weight woven fabrics with a fluid drape, including cotton, linen, chambray, poplin, twill, lightweight denim and wool flannel. Allow extra fabric for matching checks, stripes or directional prints.

- Version A, Sizes 34–40: 2.5m (150cm wide) or 2.9m (115cm wide)
- Version A, Sizes 42–48: 2.5m (150cm wide) or 3.3m (115cm wide)

Choosing Between Size Ranges: The two size ranges overlap at sizes 46 and 48 but are drafted for different bust proportions. The 34–48 range is designed for a B cup, while the 46–60 range is designed for a D cup. If you fall within the overlapping sizes, the 46–60 range may offer a better fit if you have a fuller bust. Choose your size using your actual body measurements rather than your usual ready-to-wear clothing size.
