    The Fran Pyjamas Sewing Pattern from Closet Core Patterns brings a lovely balance of relaxed comfort and classic tailoring to your handmade wardrobe. With a roomy button-up top and easy-fitting, straight-leg trousers, Fran is designed for lounging in style – although both pieces look just as good worn separately for everyday dressing.

    The top has a relaxed, slightly boxy silhouette with a traditional shirt collar, button fastening, dropped shoulders and wide, cuffed sleeves. A back yoke with an inverted pleat adds movement and ease, while a chest pocket and little button loop at the neckline provide thoughtful finishing touches.

    The trousers are equally comfortable, with a gently gathered, paperbag-style elasticated waistband, optional drawstring, practical side-seam pockets and a back patch pocket. The straight, roomy legs give them a lovely relaxed shape, whether made in crisp cotton or something softer and more fluid.

    Fran is a wonderfully versatile pattern. Make a matching pyjama set in cotton lawn, poplin or soft flannel, choose linen for easy summer lounging, or try silk or viscose satin for something a little more luxurious. The shirt also works beautifully as a casual overshirt or lightweight jacket in a more substantial woven fabric.

    Suggested Fabrics

    Fran is designed for light to medium-weight woven fabrics. For a crisp, classic pyjama set, choose cotton poplin, cotton lawn, voile, chambray or other shirting fabrics. Soft cotton flannel and lightweight linen are lovely choices for comfortable everyday nightwear.

    For a more flowing, luxurious finish, try viscose, Tencel, silk crepe de chine or satin. The shirt can also be made as a lightweight jacket or overshirt using medium-weight cotton twill or lightweight wool.

    Choosing Your Size: Fran is designed with a relaxed, oversized fit. Use your full bust measurement to select the top size and your hip measurement to select the trousers. The elasticated waistband allows some flexibility at the waist.

    The Alpha size range is drafted for an average height of approximately 168cm (5ft 6in). These are body measurements, not finished garment measurements.
