    Description

This is a PDF Sewing Pattern which you will have to print.

The Bliss Gilet Sewing Pattern from Cha' Coud is a charming sleeveless layering piece inspired by the traditional shepherd's waistcoat. With its relaxed fit and beautifully scalloped edges, Bliss brings a lovely decorative touch to a simple, practical garment.

The design features a flattering V-neckline, gently shaped front edges and a comfortable, slightly loose silhouette that's perfect for wearing over blouses, shirts and knitwear. The scalloped front opening is a particularly pretty detail, with buttons and buttonholes positioned along the curves to create an unusual and eye-catching fastening.

Bias binding finishes the neckline, front edges, armholes and hem, neatly framing the garment and providing an opportunity to introduce a contrasting colour or pattern. Bliss can also be lined for a more polished finish or to make the gilet reversible.

Choose a cosy wool sherpa or faux fur for a wonderfully tactile layer, or try boiled wool, wool coating or double-sided quilted fabric for a more structured look. It's a lovely pattern for experimenting with texture and contrasting bindings.

    Suggested Fabrics:

    • Wool sherpa
    • Boiled wool
    • Wool coating
    • Double-sided quilted fabric
    • Faux fur

    Fabric Requirements:

    Based on fabric 140cm wide:

    • Sizes 34–42: 0.6m
    • Sizes 44–52: 0.9m

    Optional Lining:

If the reverse of your main fabric is unsuitable for leaving exposed, or if you would like to make the gilet reversible, you will also need:

    • Sizes 34–42: 0.6m of lining fabric, 140cm wide
    • Sizes 44–52: 0.9m of lining fabric, 140cm wide

Cotton poplin or linen would be suitable lining options.

    Additional Supplies:

    • 4 buttons, approximately 15mm diameter
    • 6.5m bias binding
    • Matching sewing thread

    Pattern Details:

    • Relaxed, sleeveless gilet
    • V-shaped neckline
    • Decorative scalloped front opening
    • Four-button fastening
    • Bias-bound neckline, armholes, front edges and hem
    • Optional lining for a reversible finish
    • Sizes EU 34–52
