Marisa is a simple sleeveless top with some rather lovely details that lift it well beyond an everyday basic. Comfortable and easy to wear, it has a gently shaped fit, a round neckline with a small centre front slit and a beautiful pleated detail at the back.
There are two ways to make Marisa, so you can keep things beautifully simple or add buttons to the back and neckline for a little extra detail. It's a quick and satisfying project that will work happily with trousers, jeans and skirts, and one you'll want to make more than once.
Fabric choice makes all the difference to the finished look. Choose something soft and fluid to really show off the back pleat, or have a little fun with lace, plumetis or broderie anglaise for a lighter, more decorative version.
Suggested Fabrics:
Soft woven fabrics such as cotton or viscose poplin, crêpe, lightweight twill, silk or linen. Lace, plumetis and broderie anglaise are also lovely choices. A fabric with some softness and drape will show off the back pleat particularly well.
