Join Lisa Falconer, the designer behind The Avid Seamstress, for a special weekend of sewing at the Clothkits studio. During this friendly and relaxed workshop, you'll sew one of Lisa's stylish Avid Seamstress patterns with her expert guidance by your side. Whether you're a beginner or have years of dressmaking experience, Lisa will help you enhance your skills and build your confidence in our welcoming and inspiring studio. Surrounded by fellow dressmakers, this weekend offers the opportunity to exchange ideas, learn new techniques, and enjoy the shared experience of sewing together.
More than just a workshop – it’s a tailored experience!
Ahead of the weekend, you will have a video call with Lisa to discuss pattern options, fabric suggestions and whether a toile should be made ahead of time. Whether you’re making your first garment or refining advanced skills, this personalised session ensures you arrive ready to get the most from your time in the studio.
In some cases, all preparation can be completed during the workshop, while for other projects, it may be necessary to bring the fabric cut out. Beginners will be encouraged to complete all the steps during the workshop to build essential preparation skills with Lisa's support. Please note that The Coat pattern is not available for this workshop. For those keen to sew outerwear, Lisa recommends The Wimborne Coat.

Materials: The pattern is included in the workshop price, but you will need to allow for all materials.
About your Teacher: Lisa Falconer is the founder of The Avid Seamstress, a Dorset-based sewing pattern company known for its clear, considered designs and approachable style. With a background in fashion and a passion for empowering modern makers, Lisa is dedicated to making the sewing process enjoyable, achievable, and rewarding. Her patterns are designed to build confidence and help sewists create garments they’ll wear again and again. Through The Avid Seamstress, Lisa brings together a community of makers who value quality, creativity, and the satisfaction of sewing something beautifully made.

When: Saturday 23rd May 10.30am-5.30pm and Sunday 24th May 9am-5pm
Venue: The workshop is held in our modern and vibrant studio at the Clothkits shop. We are located in central Chichester, about a 10 minute walk from the train and bus station. The closest car park is The Cattle Market.

Returns
If you change your mind about an item or have received the incorrect item then we offer a very straightforward return policy. You may return unwanted goods up to 28 days after purchase for exchange, a store credit, or a refund.
Returned merchandise must be in the condition sold with original packaging and any tags intact. Goods must be unused, unopened, in perfect condition and remain in a re-saleable condition. Non-returnable items include kits once they have been cut, cut lengths of fabric, ribbons or trim, samples, sale items, and ex-demonstration items.
