The Ilford Jacket is a brilliantly versatile pattern with plenty of scope to make it completely your own. Designed with a relaxed, boxy shape and dropped shoulders, it can be made as anything from a sturdy workwear-inspired jacket to a softer shacket or lightweight overshirt, simply by changing your fabric.
There are two lengths to choose from, along with two sleeve options: a traditional placketed sleeve with cuff or a simpler boxy sleeve for a more relaxed finish. You'll also find a selection of pocket templates to mix and match, making the Ilford a great pattern for playing with colour, contrast fabrics and topstitching.
It's a satisfying, skill-building project with endless possibilities and a wonderfully easy-to-wear shape. Designed to suit all genders, this is the sort of pattern you'll reach for again and again – and each version can look completely different from the last.
Suggested Fabrics:
The Ilford works with a wide range of woven fabrics. Choose denim, cotton twill or canvas for a more structured workwear feel; linen, mid-weight corduroy or lightweight wool for a softer shacket; or try flannel, cotton-linen blends or chambray for a lighter overshirt.

The amounts below include approximately 0.2m for pockets. You may need additional fabric for directional prints, stripes, obvious pattern repeats or fabrics with a heavy nap.

- 5–12 buttons – approximately 25–38mm is recommended, although you can have fun choosing a size to suit your fabric and finished look
- 0.9m fusible interfacing – choose a lightweight to mid-weight interfacing to suit your fabric

Returns
If you change your mind about an item or have received the incorrect item then we offer a very straightforward return policy. You may return unwanted goods up to 28 days after purchase for exchange, a store credit, or a refund.
Returned merchandise must be in the condition sold with original packaging and any tags intact. Goods must be unused, unopened, in perfect condition and remain in a re-saleable condition.
