The Pekka Jacket by Ready to Sew is a wonderfully relaxed, oversized jacket inspired by traditional Japanese clothing. With its clean lines, generous proportions and distinctive open front, it's an effortlessly stylish layering piece that's ideal for wearing between seasons.
Designed with wide armholes, dropped shoulders and roomy patch pockets, Pekka has a beautifully simple silhouette that works just as well over a dress as it does with jeans and a T-shirt. The loose fit makes it comfortable to wear, while the clever construction and simplified lining keep the sewing process surprisingly straightforward.
There are two versions to choose from. View 1 features a simple collar and seven-eighths length sleeves, making it a lovely option for lighter fabrics and an easy everyday jacket. View 2 has a double collar and sleeves finished with cuffs, giving it a more substantial look that's particularly suited to quilted fabrics and heavier cottons.
Fabric choice can completely transform this pattern. Try a washed linen or chambray for a soft, casual jacket, cotton twill or denim for a little more structure, or a quilted fabric for a cosy layering piece. Pekka is a satisfying project for newer dressmakers looking to build their skills, with a contemporary shape you'll want to make more than once.
Pattern Sizes: 32–58 (two size ranges: 32–46 and 46–58)
Suggested Fabrics: Medium-weight woven fabrics including linen, cotton twill, chambray, lightweight denim, canvas, gabardine, poplin and cotton or wool flannel. Quilted fabrics are particularly suitable for View 2.
Fabric Requirements (140cm wide):
- Sizes 32–46: 2.5m outer fabric and 1.9m lining
- Sizes 46–58: 2.8m outer fabric and 2m lining

Choosing Between Size Ranges: The two ranges overlap at size 46 but use different drafting blocks. Range 1 is designed for a B cup, while Range 2 is designed for a D cup and offers more room through the bust. If your measurements fall between the ranges, consider which block best suits your proportions. The relaxed style of Pekka allows plenty of ease for comfortable layering.

If you change your mind about an item or have received the incorrect item then we offer a very straightforward return policy. You may return unwanted goods up to 28 days after purchase for exchange, a store credit, or a refund.
Returned merchandise must be in the condition sold with original packaging and any tags intact. Goods must be unused, unopened, in perfect condition and remain in a re-saleable condition.
