Time taken

These projects take a little time to complete, but that's all part of the enjoyment! It's lovely to have something you can really get stuck into, and the hours of creative pleasure make them excellent value for money.

Best bit Making the sequins look like spokes! So clever.

“Keep all the bits on a tray with a piece of felt on it - this stops the beads from rolling around”

— Charlie

Why I chose this kit

I actually bought this kit with my own money! I'm often asked to make things for Clothkits, but I enjoyed stitching the Hummingbird so much that I couldn't resist making another. And really, who doesn't need a Christmas Truck in their life?

How it came together

I started by sorting the beads into the correct order, then stitched on the tinsel cord to create the outline. From there, I worked my way methodically through the beads, following the instructions and enjoying every stitch. The perfect bit of mindful sewing!

The finished project

It's so cool, I made it as a hanging decoration so I can put it on my tree!

Would I make it again?

I will definitely make another one from this series, I find the whole process so enjoyable.

Enjoyed this Behind the Makes feature?

We’re all makers at Clothkits. Behind the Makes is our chance to share the projects our team are working on — from quick craft kits and weekend makes to creative experiments, useful tips and the occasional wonky stitch.

Each feature takes you behind the project, showing what we made, how it came together, what we loved, and what we’d recommend to other makers.

Is there a kit you’d love to see one of the Clothkits team make next? We’d love to hear your ideas.
