Inspired by the extraordinary folk art of Alebrijes, the brightly coloured, dreamlike creatures first created by Mexican artist Pedro Linares in the 1930s. This joyful kit lets you crochet your very own mythical fox spirit, bursting with personality and colour.
In Linares’ famous dream, a fantastical forest came alive with colourful hybrid animals calling out one word: “Alebrijes!” These extraordinary beings later appeared as spirit animals in Disney Pixar’s Coco and remain symbols of creativity and imagination today.
This playful fox is a fresh evolution of the original Alebrije design, featuring vibrant colourwork and simple embroidered details that bring it to life. Worked in the amigurumi style and crocheted in a continuous spiral, the clear, photo-rich pattern is designed for intermediate crocheters who love a creative challenge. Once complete, the embroidered stitches add depth and folk-art charm to your finished piece.
