The Balloon Skirt is a fabulous midi-length skirt with a flared silhouette and the option to make it with or without its distinctive balloon shape. It features a neat straight waistband, concealed zip fastening at the back and, always a winner, side seam pockets.
Choose the balloon version for a more sculptural, statement shape, or leave out the balloon effect for a softer, flowing skirt. Two quite different looks from one very versatile pattern.
Suggested Fabrics:
Light to medium-weight fabrics are ideal. For the balloon version, choose a fabric with enough structure to hold the shape beautifully. For the non-balloon version, fabrics with a little more drape work particularly well. The balloon skirt pictured is made in black silk, while the non-balloon version is sewn in a medium-weight wool blend.

For Option 1, you can choose to make the lining skirt in a separate lining fabric. For 140cm wide lining fabric you will need:
- XS–S: 1.0m
- M–L: 1.2m
- XL: 1.4m
- 2XL–3XL: 1.6m
Please note that using a separate lining fabric does not reduce the amount of main fabric required.

- 25cm concealed zip.
- Fusible interfacing.
- Matching sewing thread.
- One 15–17mm button.

If you change your mind about an item or have received the incorrect item then we offer a very straightforward return policy. You may return unwanted goods up to 28 days after purchase for exchange, a store credit, or a refund.
