Belle Épine is a pretty, feminine summer top with a relaxed bohemian feel and some really lovely details. The V-neckline dips at both the front and back while still being designed to allow for a bra, and delicate tie straps make it easy to adjust and add to its soft, summery look.
Radiating bust darts create the beautiful shaping through the front, while an optional gathered ruffle adds a playful finish around the hem. There are plenty of ways to make Belle Épine your own too – sew it with or without the ruffle and choose between a fully lined version or an unlined version finished neatly with neckline facings.
It's a lovely pattern for warm days and a great opportunity to play with different fabrics. Something with a little body will give the ruffle more volume, while a softer fabric will create a gentler, more fluid finish.
Suggested Fabrics: Lightweight woven fabrics around 80–200gsm, such as viscose, Tencel, cotton, crêpe, poplin, satin or lightweight twill. Choose a fabric that presses well and doesn't distort too easily. Lace and other openwork fabrics can also work beautifully, particularly for the lined version.
Sizes: UK 6–24 / FR 34–52, drafted for a height of 165cm.
