The Chelsea Blouse is an elegant, softly structured blouse with beautiful raglan sleeves and plenty of lovely details to make your own. Slightly fitted without feeling restrictive, it looks just as good tucked into high-waisted trousers or a skirt as it does worn loose.
Choose a pleated or plain front, then finish the sleeves with gathered buttoned cuffs or a simpler plain cuff. Pleating through the front and shoulders gives Chelsea its distinctive shape, while the raglan sleeve construction creates a soft, flattering line. Different fabrics will change the look beautifully too – choose something fluid for softer folds or a fabric with a little more body to make the pleating really stand out.
Suggested Fabrics:
Lightweight woven fabrics around 80–160gsm, such as viscose, Tencel, cotton, crêpe, poplin, satin or lightweight twill. Choose a fabric that presses well and holds the folds without stretching out of shape. Openwork fabrics can also work beautifully, as the neckline is finished with bias binding.
