The Kalle Shirt & Shirtdress from Closet Core Patterns is a contemporary take on classic shirting, combining a relaxed, oversized fit with beautifully considered details. With three different lengths and plenty of options for personalising the design, it's a wonderfully versatile pattern for creating everything from an everyday shirt to an easy, stylish dress.
All three versions feature short dolman sleeves with neat cuffs, a gently curved back yoke and a distinctive shaped hem. Choose a traditional shirt collar or a simple band collar, add an optional breast pocket and select from an inverted or box pleat at the back. There are also three fastening options: a classic button placket, a partial popover placket or a concealed button fastening.
Three versions to make:
- View A – Cropped Shirt: A boxy, cropped style with a wide hem facing, perfect for wearing with high-waisted trousers and skirts.
- View B – Tunic: Inspired by traditional men's Oxford shirts, with a longer length and deeply curved hem.
- View C – Shirtdress: An easy-fitting dress with a dramatic high-low hem, ideal for wearing on its own or layered over trousers.
Make Kalle in crisp cotton poplin or chambray for a more structured look, or choose linen, Tencel or viscose for a softer silhouette. It's a brilliant pattern for exploring different fabrics and developing your shirtmaking skills.

Suggested Fabrics
Light to medium-weight woven fabrics. Choose cotton poplin, chambray, voile, flannel or traditional shirting fabrics for a crisp, structured finish. For a softer, more fluid silhouette, try linen, Tencel, viscose or silk crepe de chine.

Closet Core Patterns offers two size ranges for the Kalle Shirt & Shirtdress. The 0–20 range is drafted for a B cup and the 14–32 range for a D cup. As the measurements differ between the two ranges, choose your size using your body measurements rather than your usual dress size.

Choosing Your Size: The 0–20 range is drafted for a B cup, while the 14–32 range is drafted for a D cup with a fuller hip. Both ranges are based on an average height of approximately 168cm. If your size falls within the overlap, use your bust measurements and body proportions to decide which range will offer the best fit.

If you change your mind about an item or have received the incorrect item then we offer a very straightforward return policy. You may return unwanted goods up to 28 days after purchase for exchange, a store credit, or a refund.
Returned merchandise must be in the condition sold with original packaging and any tags intact. Goods must be unused, unopened, in perfect condition and remain in a re-saleable condition.
