If romance were a blouse, it might just be Missive. Light, airy and full of beautiful details, this elegant blouse has a wonderfully feminine feel, with delicate gathers, shaped shoulder yokes and a graceful neckline finished with a beautifully pointed detail at the front.
Choose between two statement sleeve styles: a softly gathered long sleeve finished with neat cuffs, or a flowing short sleeve for a lighter, more summery look. The fabric choice can completely change the feel of Missive too – choose viscose, satin or Tencel for softness and movement, or cotton, poplin or lightweight twill for a little more structure. Whichever you choose, this is a blouse with plenty of lovely sewing details to get your teeth into.
Sizes:
UK 6–24 (FR 34–52), drafted for a height of 165cm. Please refer to the Find Your Size tab for detailed body measurements. Finished garment measurements are shown in the product photos.
Recommended Fabrics:
Light to medium-weight woven fabrics, around 70–200gsm. Choose something fluid for a softer, floatier blouse or a fabric with a little more body for a more structured finish. Viscose, soft jacquard, Tencel, cotton, crepe, poplin, satin, voile and twill are all lovely choices.

Techniques:
Creating neat, even gathers, applying neckline bias binding with a pointed finish, sewing sleeve plackets and constructing cuffs.
Seam Allowance: 1cm included.
Ability: Advanced
A delicate pleat adds shape at the shoulders, while the centre back opening is finished with a neat button fastening. Make it in a classic striped jersey for that unmistakable Breton look, or choose a plain knit to really show off the shape and construction. Perfect with jeans, shorts or skirts, Miss Pirate is set to become a firm favourite in any handmade wardrobe.
