The Studio Shirt & Dress is a wonderfully versatile sewing pattern with two distinct looks in one – make a relaxed, flowing shirt dress or shorten it to create an easy contemporary shirt.
The statement collar, dropped shoulders and cuffed sleeves give the design its distinctive shape, while the generous fit keeps it comfortable and effortless to wear. The dress features practical in-seam pockets and a choice of curved or straight hem. Wear it loose for an easy, oversized silhouette, or add the tie belt and gently blouson the top over the waist to create shape and a completely different look. The dress has been designed with this belted styling in mind, which also brings the pockets into their intended position.
The shirt version has the same relaxed shape and statement details, but gives the pattern a completely different feel. Wear it loose, tuck it into trousers or skirts, or use it as an easy layering piece. The sleeves can be worn at three-quarter length with the cuffs on show or casually rolled back.
Woven fabrics work beautifully for this pattern. Linen, cotton, poplin and shirting will give a little more structure and really show off that fabulous collar, while viscose or Tencel will create a softer, more fluid silhouette.
The Studio Shirt & Dress is designed to have a relaxed fit, so it’s worth checking the finished garment measurements before choosing your size. Depending on how oversized you would like it to be, you may prefer to make a size smaller than usual.
Pattern Sizes: UK 6–26
Suggested Fabrics: Light to medium-weight woven fabrics such as linen, cotton, poplin and shirting, or lightweight viscose and Tencel for a softer drape.
You will also need:
• Fabric
• Thread
• Lightweight iron-on interfacing – 1.2m for the shirt / 2m for the dress
• 12mm buttons – 7 for the shirt / 10 for the dress
• Seam sealant such as Fray Check

Returns
If you change your mind about an item or have received the incorrect item then we offer a very straightforward return policy. You may return unwanted goods up to 28 days after purchase for exchange, a store credit, or a refund.
Returned merchandise must be in the condition sold with original packaging and any tags intact. Goods must be unused, unopened, in perfect condition and remain in a re-saleable condition. Non-returnable items include kits once they have been cut, cut lengths of fabric, ribbons or trim, samples, sale items, and ex-demonstration items.
