The Elvis Trousers by Ready to Sew are a contemporary take on the classic elastic-waist trouser, combining an easy, comfortable fit with a wonderfully distinctive asymmetric front pleat. Simple enough for newer dressmakers but with plenty of design interest, Elvis is a brilliant pattern for creating everyday trousers that feel anything but ordinary.
The clever asymmetric pleat sweeps diagonally across the front, creating an eye-catching detail that gives these trousers their unique character. Choose between a straight leg or a gently rounded barrel-leg silhouette, both finished at a flattering ankle-grazing, seven-eighths length. An elasticated waistband keeps the construction straightforward and makes them comfortable to wear throughout the day.
Elvis is available in two size ranges, with a mid-rise waist in Range 1 and a higher rise in Range 2. The relaxed shape works beautifully with a simple T-shirt, tucked-in blouse or cropped jacket, making these a versatile addition to a handmade wardrobe.
Fabric choice is key to showing off the sculptural shape. Try cotton poplin or chambray for a lightweight pair, linen blends for a relaxed summer look, or lightweight denim and fine corduroy for more structure. Fabrics with a little body will help the asymmetric pleat and barrel-leg shape hold their form.
Pattern Sizes: 32–64 (two size ranges)
Suggested Fabrics: Light to medium-weight stable woven fabrics, approximately 120–220gsm, including cotton poplin, chambray, lightweight denim, fine corduroy, linen/Tencel blends and cotton/Tencel blends. Avoid very fluid or slippery fabrics, which may not hold the shape of the trousers.
Fabric Requirements (145cm wide):
- Range 1: 2.3m
- Range 2: 2.5m
You Will Also Need: 35mm wide flat elastic for the waistband and matching sewing thread.

If you change your mind about an item or have received the incorrect item then we offer a very straightforward return policy. You may return unwanted goods up to 28 days after purchase for exchange, a store credit, or a refund.
