The Pietra Pants & Shorts by Closet Core Patterns combine the smart, flattering look of tailored trousers with the comfort of an elasticated waist. With a smooth, high-waisted front, cleverly concealed elastic at the back and beautifully shaped front panels, Pietra is one of those versatile patterns you'll want to make again and again.
The distinctive front panels create long, clean lines, with angled hip pockets neatly incorporated into the seams. A hidden waist stay helps keep the front looking smooth, while the elasticated back makes these trousers wonderfully comfortable to wear. There are three different styles to choose from, each with its own character.
View A features a flowing wide leg, available in either a full-length or cropped version. View B has a slimmer, gently tapered leg for a more streamlined silhouette, while View C is a pair of easy-fitting, slightly flared shorts. From relaxed summer linen trousers to a smarter pair in lightweight twill, this pattern offers plenty of possibilities.
Choose linen, chambray, lightweight denim or cotton twill for a more structured finish, or try viscose challis, Tencel or silk for a softer, fluid drape. Avoid very heavy fabrics, which can create unnecessary bulk around the elasticated waist. Additional Pietra sewing tutorials are available online.

Measurements are in centimetres. The 14–32 size range is drafted for a D cup, with fuller hips and an average height of approximately 168cm.
If your measurements fall within the overlapping sizes 14–20, the main difference between the two ranges is body proportion. The 14–32 range is drafted for a fuller bust and more pear-shaped figure, while the 0–20 range is designed for a smaller bust and less pronounced hip curve. For Pietra, focus particularly on the waist and hip measurements when choosing your size, and blend between sizes if necessary.
