The Sepia Pants & Shorts by Closet Core Patterns are a fabulous combination of relaxed comfort and contemporary style. With three different leg shapes, clever pocket details and a beautifully gathered paperbag waist, Sepia is a versatile pattern for creating easy-to-wear trousers and shorts with plenty of personality.
The standout feature is the unusual double-layered front pockets, which have a slightly floating effect and add a lovely sense of structure to the design. Topstitched patch pockets at the back provide another practical detail, while the elasticated waistband has a softly fluted edge and an optional drawstring for a relaxed, adjustable fit.
View A has a contemporary barrel-leg silhouette, finishing at the ankle with darts at the knees and hems to create its distinctive curved shape. View B offers a more flowing, full-length wide leg, while View C is a relaxed pair of mid-thigh shorts. All three versions share the same interesting pocket construction and comfortable waistband.
Sepia works particularly well in woven fabrics with a little structure to show off the shape and details. Try linen, cotton ikat or chambray for an easy everyday look, or choose lightweight denim, cotton twill or canvas for something with a little more body. It's a rewarding sewing project with plenty of opportunities to enjoy some decorative topstitching. Additional Sepia sewing tutorials are available online.

The two size ranges overlap at sizes 14–20 but are drafted for different body proportions. The 14–32 range accommodates fuller hips and a more pear-shaped figure, while the 0–20 range is designed for less pronounced hip curves. For Sepia, use your waist and hip measurements as the main guide, and consider blending between sizes if your measurements fall across two sizes.

If you change your mind about an item or have received the incorrect item then we offer a very straightforward return policy. You may return unwanted goods up to 28 days after purchase for exchange, a store credit, or a refund.
