The Studio Tunic is a practical pinafore-style tunic designed for easy layering and everyday wear. With its relaxed A-line shape, deep neckline and low armholes, it slips comfortably over everything from a simple T-shirt to a jumper, dress or shirt, making it a wonderfully versatile piece for wearing throughout the seasons.
Roomy pockets give you plenty of space for keeping essentials close to hand, whether you're sewing in the studio, pottering in the garden, cooking in the kitchen or simply heading out for the day. Choose between a V-neck or deep rounded neckline, with utilitarian-style stitching adding to its relaxed workwear feel. The hem finishes around mid-thigh.
Your choice of fabric can really change the character of the Studio Tunic. A washed linen will give it a softer, more relaxed drape, while cotton twill or lightweight canvas will emphasise the structured A-line silhouette and utility-inspired look.
Suggested Fabrics:
Medium-weight woven fabrics such as linen, chambray, cotton twill, linen blends and lightweight canvas. More experienced makers could also try a viscose-linen blend for a softer, more fluid finish. If using a heavier main fabric, consider choosing a lighter-weight fabric for the facings to reduce bulk.
