PRODUCT INFORMATION

Join us for the day and learn how to make a traditional lampshade. Using the fabric of your choice you will learn how to make a 'soft' shade on a bowed empire frame - a classic traditional style of lampshade.

About your Teacher:  

Jane Warren is one talented lady, and an excellent tutor. She has many years of making lampshades under her belt. 

Class Size:

Maximum class size of 6.

Skills:

Ideal for complete beginners, or for those wanting to try something new.

Materials:

For your workshop you will need:
  • About half a metre of full width fabric, or larger, depending on the print or design you have chosen.
  • If you wish you may also bring 1 metre of trim for the base - pom pom, tassel, braid or anything stretchy.  You can alternatively make bias on the day from your fabric.
  • £12 for the frame which is paid directly to the tutor on the day.
Please note when choosing your fabric that it will need to be cut on the bias for this shade (i.e. if your fabric has a pattern, it will be placed at a 45 degree angle).Your chosen fabric should be relatively robust - not too thin as it will need to be heavily stretched and also to prevent the light bulb showing through the shade. Try and aim for a cotton/cotton mix, nothing with a loose weave or embellishments.We have lots of lovely trims and fabrics available to buy on the day if you so wish.

 

Venue:

The workshop is held in a bright and airy venue four minute's walk from our Clothkits shop. We will rendezvous on day one at Clothkits to collect any supplies needed and then take the short walk to the venue.  Clothkits shop is located in central Chichester, about a 10 minute walk from the train and bus station. The closest car park is The Cattle Market.

      If you are importing any of our items, you acknowledge that you are solely responsible for compliance with importing laws and requirements of the country to which the items are shipped and this is entirely at your own expense and risk.

      In addition to the purchase price of the items, you accept full responsibility for any and all handling charges, shipping costs, insurance, import duties, fees, liabilities and tax/duty costs, which may arise or apply to your order and transportation.

      Whilst we will do all we can to assist (e.g. special packaging etc which may involve extra payment by you to us), we will not be responsible for any non-delivery or import duty charged or any fines or impositions as a result of any import or attempted import.

        Insurance

        If you are placing a large order and would like your package to have insurance, please contact us before ordering for a quote.  The cost will depend on the package and the location.

        Sewing Machine Delivery

        Sewing machine delivery is FREE within the UK, excluding Highlands and Islands.
        The courier surcharge is approximately £25. Unfortunately, we do not ship sewing machines internationally.

        Gift Wrapping Service

        Want to send out a gorgeous gift?  We will happily send an order directly to your chosen recipient and wrapped beautifully Clothkits style; we can also add a personalised message to suit for just £5 per gift. You can select gift wrapping at checkout and add your message in the 'gift message' box.

        Returns

        We are 110% committed to your satisfaction and operate a no quibble returns policy. For a full refund please notify us within 14 days of purchase.

        Making a Return or Exchange

        Please make sure that you enclose a note of your name, address, purchase date and order number in your return. If you require an exchange, please state the colour and/or size that you require.

        Returned merchandise must be in the condition sold with original packaging and any tags intact. Goods must be unused, unopened, in perfect condition and remain in a re-saleable condition. Non-returnable items include kits once they have been cut, cut lengths of fabric, ribbons or trim, samples, sale items, and ex-demonstration items.

        Please make sure that your return is well packed (use the packaging the products were sent in). We cannot accept liability for goods lost or damaged in transit therefore we would recommend that you obtain a free ‘Certificate of Posting’ from the Post Office or choose to send the goods by Recorded Delivery.

        Delivery charges will apply to exchanges unless the goods are deemed faulty. Should you be sent a faulty item, return to us for a full refund. Any damages or defective items must be alerted to us within 7 days of the arrival of your package. Please inspect your purchases immediately upon receipt and contact us via email: info@clothkits.co.uk in the event of damage caused by shipping. The delivery company may require an inspection, so please retain all packing materials.
